The Bowery Ballroom, located at 6 Delancey Street, is a music space that takes its name from the lower Manhattan neighborhood where it's located. The building was constructed right before the Wall Street crash of 1929. The Bowery Ballroom sat vacant until after WWII when it was restyled as a retail space before its transformation into an iconic New York City music venue. Hosting Bowery Ballroom events since 1998, the 575-seat venue focuses on indie, up-and-coming bands and classic performers. Previous attractions include Kanye West, The California Honeydrops and The Bogmen. The Bowery Ballroom has also been featured in the films Coyote Ugly and Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist, and it has served as the inspiration and the location of Joan Baez's November 6, 2004 live performance album, Bowery Songs. Can I take photos of the bands?
You can bring a non-professional camera to many shows. That means a point and shoot camera without detachable lenses, and it includes your cellphone. Inquire about the photo policy at the door or call 212-260-4700 on the day of the concert to find out the policy for that particular musical artist. Professional cameras are allowed only with a photo pass issued by each band's management. No flash photography and no selfie sticks are allowed.

The Bowery Ballroom is a mid-sized venue, small enough to be fairly intimate and large enough to dance. It has three floors. The entrance leads downstairs below the stage floor. Here, you'll find a U-shaped bar, bathrooms, coat-check and the merchandise area. Then, there is the stage floor and another bar. Stairs lead from the stage floor to a balcony area with a third bar and tables.
What neighborhood is the concert venue in?
The Bowery Ballroom is located in the downtown neighborhood that lends it its name: the Bowery. The Bowery is both a street and a neighborhood. The area is laid out with boundaries roughly set between Houston Street, Avenue A, Delancey Street and Bowery Street. There is a Bowery subway stop outside the Bowery Ballroom, and dining options are plentiful in lower Manhattan.
