Set in New York City during the Depression Era, at a time when prohibition was in full swing, this musical comedy comes down to a war of wits between speakeasy owner and gangster Fat Sam and rival gang leader Dandy Dan. Boxing promoter Bugsy Malone, who has fallen on hard times, enters the picture and looks for a way to remain loyal to his friends, while still keeping a promise to his new-found love interest, Blousey Brown, a wannabe singer looking for fame.

The latest production of Alan Parker's musical Bugsy Malone will be at the Lyric Hammersmith in London for a limited time. The creative team for this musical revival includes Sean Holmes as director, Drew McOnie as choreographer, Phil Bateman as musical director and Jon Bauser as a designer.
Many of the play's original songs written by Oscar-winning songwriter Paul Williams, -- including "Bad Guys," "So You Wanna Be a Boxer," "My Name Is Tallulah," "Tomorrow" and "You Give a Little Love" -- are also part of the production. Three actors were selected for each major role and the production cast the lineup rotates nightly between the actors. Audience members could come three different nights and literally see a different cast line-up each night.

Bugsy Malone originated as a 1976 film, starring young actors, Jodi Foster and Scott Baio before transitioning into a hit musical stage production in 1983. This original stage production, starring Catherine Zeta-Jones, received rave reviews and ran for 300 stage performances.
Now, producer Sean Holmes has brought this beloved musical back to life with a cast ranging from nine to 19 years old, including Mark Charles, Dayna Cherry Chapman Dixon, Max Gill and Rhianna Dorris. What these young actors may lack in size, they more than make up for with talent, which is evident by the show's prestigious Olivier Award nomination for the Best Musical Revival.
