The Butler Bulldogs women's volleyball team is a squad that posts wins. During its early years in the 1970s and 1980s and through the 1990s, the Bulldogs had very few losing seasons and booked multiple 20-win years; more than a few of those seasons consisted of more than 25 wins. The Bulldogs have continued this trend under its current coach, Sharon Clark, and the team continues to post winning seasons. The Bulldog volleyball program also cultivates fine athletes and has many past players in the Butler Athletics Hall of Fame. More recently, more than a few great athletes have come up in the program, such as Melody Davidson and Brooke Gregory. Both athletes were selected to be a part of the 2019 All-BIG EAST team. During the 2019 season, Davidson booked 134 blocks (second in the BIG EAST) and 215 kills, and Gregory ranked sixth in the BIG EAST in blocks per set with .94. The Butler Bulldogs women's volleyball team calls the Hinkle Fieldhouse home. It was built in 1928 and has enjoyed a reputation as one of the finest sports venues in all of college sports. The facility was renovated in 2014 to the tune of $36 million. When she graduated, she took with her the records for single-match kills (31) and attacks (87). Jennifer Kintzel McGurn was selected to be a part of 10 all-tournament teams while at Butler and earned the title of Horizon Player of the Year her senior year. 2020 marks the 21st season for Sharon Clark as head coach of the Bulldogs women's volleyball team. In those years, Clark has led the Bulldogs to 12 winning seasons with seven of them being 20-win years (24 being the highest number of wins in one year), and seven of them were consecutive. She also led the team to an NCAA tournament appearance in 2010. In 2017, Clark booked her 300th career win and is now the fwinningest coach in the history of the Butler Bulldogs volleyball program. Before joining the Bulldogs, Butler was at UC Davis, where she pulled of 97 wins and 85 losses.
