Calgary Dinos History
While the Calgary Dinos have proven themselves to be one of the most dominant teams in the CWUAA and they have won four Vanier Cups, it has been eighteen years since their last Vanier Cup win, something they are surely looking to change in the 2013 season after slightly disappointing finishes to the 2011 and 2012 seasons. From 2000 through 2012 the Dinos finished each season with eight conference wins but it was not until 2011 and 2012 that eight wins proved to be enough to capture first place in Canada West. Fifteen former members of the Calgary Dinos have gone on to play in the CFL, among them Anthony Woodson, Tim O'Neill, Nathan Coehoorn and others, but you can expect that number to increase each season as the Dinos are constantly full of pro level talent.
Going to a game to see a true sports juggernaut play at home in front of their rabid fans is an experience any sports fan will cherish. This is precisely the experience that a Calgary Dinos home game offers. On game day McMahon Stadium is rocking as much as or more than any other football stadium in North America and the moment you set foot in the parking lot this will be evident. The tens of thousands of red, gold, and black clad fans partying and celebrating even before entering the stadium gates sets the perfect tone for the party about to take place inside McMahon Stadium. Once inside and seated you will immediately be caught up in the frenzied atmosphere and friendly camaraderie of being with scores of other Dinos fans eager to see this powerhouse program reel off another win against a top foe. By the time the game is over you may have made some new friends and will surely want to continue the celebration either in the parking lot or at one of the nearby bars and restaurants. This is a day you won't want to end, so there is no point in hurrying home.
