Calgary Hitmen Tickets
The Calgary Hitmen are a two-time champion of the major junior Western Hockey League — an organization for young amateur players up to the age of 20. Established in 1995, the franchise derived its unique name from professional wrestler and co-founder Bret "The Hitman" Hart. The city of Calgary has a long history with the WHL, dating back to the Buffaloes and Wranglers from the 1960s to the 1980s. The Hitmen had a quick ascension. In 1999, the squad captured the coveted Ed Chynoweth Cup for the first time in team history with a five-game series win over the Kamloops Blazers. Calgary then advanced to the Memorial Cup Finals to compete for the top major junior hockey team in all of Canada. However, Ottawa triumphed over Calgary in a hard-fought 7-6 overtime victory. For the next decade, Calgary continued to be a WHL contender and a perennial playoff team. The Hitmen returned to the WHL Finals in 2009 and then took home its second championship in 2010 with a five-game series victory over the Tri City Americans.
