Cam tour dates
Cam is an American country music singer, best known for her 2015 hit single "Burning House." Originally from California, she made her name as a country artist after moving to Nashville. She has performed with artists including Fifth Harmony and Lady Antebellum, and has traveled the U.S. on her own headline Cam tour. She is known for telling stories during her live show, giving the audience an understanding of what the lyrics mean to her and the process of writing the songs.
Cam was born Camaron Ochs in 1984 and grew up in Lafayette, California. She developed a love of country music as a child, thanks to her grandparents, and during college she gained performing experience as a part of an a capella group. She learned to play the guitar and started writing her own songs. Cam released her first studio album, Heartforward, in 2010 under her full name, through an independent label. The music had a folk-pop sound, and gained positive reviews in local media. She moved to LA, where she began working with songwriter and producer, Tyler Johnson. Together, they wrote songs that were released by artists such as Miley Cyrus.
Deciding to pursue a career in country music, Cam moved to Nashville. Despite receiving record deals off the back of her songwriting success, she decided to remain unsigned and used the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter to raise money to record 10 songs with her regular collaborator, Tyler Johnson. She released a single, "Down This Road," which received airplay on country stations, and she eventually decided to sign to Arista Nashville.
After signing to Arista, Cam recorded her debut EP, Welcome to Cam Country, and her first major label album, Untamed. She continued to work with Johnson, along with more established producer Jeff Bhasker, whose credits include Kanye West, Rihanna and Taylor Swift. She enjoyed a small hit with upbeat single "My Mistake," but it was the ballad "Burning House" that became her breakthrough moment. The song talks about meeting an ex-boyfriend at a party and telling him of a dream she had about saving him from a burning house.
"Burning House" sold over a million copies, and reached No. 2 on the U.S. Country Chart. Her album achieved success, charting at No. 2 on the Country Albums Chart, and No. 12 on the Billboard Top 200. Since her breakout hit, Cam has toured with Brad Paisley and George Strait and performed at both the CMA and CMT Awards. She gained nominations for a Grammy and four ACM awards in 2016.
