Cavalia Orange County tickets history
Created by one of the minds behind Cirque Du Soleil, along with three others, the vision for Cavalia was impressive. After plenty of orchestrating and training, the first Cavalia show was performed in 2003 in Quebec, Canada. The original performance known as Cavalia: A Magical Encounter Between Human and Horse was well-received by critics and audience members alike. Approximately 4 million people witnessed thousands of performances of this first production, which included approximately 50 horses and 50 human artists. These artists consisted of musicians, acrobats, ballet dancers and aerial performers, among others. The rave reviews prompted the development of a second show, titled Odysseo in 2011. This production, as well as the original, continue to tour to various cities around the globe.
Cavalia has garnered comparisons to traditional circuses because it is performed underneath a big top tent and features acrobatic performances along with animals. Unlike traditional circus tents, however, Cavalia takes place underneath a large white tent. There are nine tents in total, which are referred to as the Cavalia Village. The big white top tent itself is where the show takes place. It is approximately the height of a 10-story building and can seat around 2,000 guests. Nearly 230 feet of the big tent acts as a screen for use during the show. On this screen, projections and various multimedia are displayed to enhance the overall artistic vibe of the production.
While all the human performers in Cavalia are skilled and highly trained, the most prominent are husband and wife performers Frederic Pignon and Magali Delgado. The two are regarded as world-class equestrian artists and have written a book titled Gallop to Freedom: Training Horses With Our Six Golden Principles. The book details their experiences in horse training and explains how they prepare horses for performances in productions such as Cavalia. For fans of Cavalia, the cooperation of the horses has been the most captivating portion of the performances. The explanation of the horse training was reassuring for those, particularly animal lovers, who are not fond of harsh training methods for performance animals.
