Champions Showdown ATP World Tour
The ATP World Tour was established 42 years ago and is home to the best men's tennis players on the planet going head to head singles and as doubles to earn the championship. In 1972 Jack Kramer, Cliff Drysdale, and Donald Dell, created the Association of Tennis Professionals in an effort to look out for the interests of male tennis players all over the world. For nearly 25 years ATP has organized the professional tennis world tour for men (the women's tour is organized by WTA, the Women's Tennis Association) and stands as the official governing body of the sport. There are many events that are part of the tour and all serve to help decide which player deserves the top ranking in the world. The Champions Showdown brings together some of the top men's tennis players of all time who made a name foe themselves on the ATP World Tour and has them go head to head in a one night only tournament. The Champions Showdown is much more than just an important stop on the ATP World Tour, it is a celebration of tennis greatness and is truly an event that every die hard tennis fan will want to experience in person at least once in their life.
The 2015 Champions Showdown reads like a who's who of professional tennis from the Eighties through today and will feature legendary athletes including Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, Pete Sampras, John McEnroe, Mark Philippoussis, Jim Courier, James Blake, and Michael Chang. There is no other tennis tournament on the planet that can boast a similar line up and there is no excuse for any tennis aficionado to be left out in the cold when the Champions Showdown comes around. Sports fans often debate over who was the best of all time and which athletes from which era were the best in their sport. While it cannot give a decisive answer because these athletes are of different ages and have developed and honed different skill sets since they were in prime physical condition, the Champions Showdown still provides a bit of interesting insight that can be used as ammunition in these discussions. The players may no longer be competing for the top ranking in the world or Grand Slam Tournament titles, but do not let that fool you, these are proud, elite athletes who got to the top of their sport not only because of natural talent and hard work but because of their hatred of losing. Because of this they will continue to do whatever they can anytime they hit the court to come out on top and this only makes each and every match more exciting.
Champions Showdown Rivalries
The athletes competing in the Champions Showdow have been touring across the country as part of the PowerShares Series and have developed friendly rivalries after going heard to head against one another all across the country. After competing against one another time and time again you can be sure that Andre Agassi, Andy Roddick, Pete Sampras, John McEnroe, Mark Philippoussis, Jim Courier, James Blake, and Michael Chang do not want to lose to one another.
The Champions Showdown is part of the PowerShares Series which is sponsored by InsideOut Information, a production company founded by former ATP number one player Jim Courier who is a member of the tennis Hall of Fame and therefore knows a thing or two about world class tennis.
