Born to Christian Evangelist parents, Moore spent her childhood singing in the church. Influenced by the iconic jazz vocalists of yesteryear, she signed a recording contract with Warner Bros. Records when she was just 19 years old. Moore received moderate chart success after dueting with Keith Washington on the House Party 2 soundtrack. She scored her big break, however, with her debut solo album, Precious.
After a string of successful hit singles during the '90s and early '00s, Moore swapped the recording booth for the small screen and found fame for the second time. She was a cast member of the reality TV series R&B Wives: Los Angeles and stayed in the show for three seasons. The series follows the lives of several female R&B singers.

Moore released her debut album, Precious, in 1992 on Silas Records and MCA Records. The studio sets features production from Bebe Winans, George Duke and others. The album's lead single, "Love's Taken Over," charted at No. 86 on the Billboard Hot 100 and No. 13 on the R&B Singles Chart. Subsequent singles from Precious -- "It's Alright," "As If We Never Met" and "Who Do I Turn To" -- also became R&B hits.
Moore continued to release music during the '90s. Her second album, A Love Supreme, spawned the hits "Old School Lovin'" "This Time" and "I'm What You Need." Moore's third album, This Moment Is Mine, was an even bigger success. The set's debut single, "Chante's Got a Man," catapulted to No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 -- her biggest hit to date. This Moment is Mine reached No. 31 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart.
In 2017, Moore released her first album four years. The Rise of the Phoenix became a critical success and features the singles "Real One" and "Something to Remember." This was Moore's first album after she appeared on the TV show R&B Divas: Los Angeles. "Back to Life" and "I Know" are two of the other tracks on the 17-song set.
