In 1958, Pride recorded songs for Sun Studios. The greatest breakthrough in his career came when he got a contract with Chet Atkins of RCA Victor. One of his first singles, "Just Between You and Me," was a great success that gave him a Grammy nomination the year after it was released and reached No. 9 on the country charts.
