CHVRCHES TicketsCHVRCHES is an indie pop and synth-pop band from Glasgow, Scotland. The band cites Iggy Pop, David Bowie and Depeche Mode as influences on its own unique sound, which blends together electronic music and traditional pop. The unique spelling of the name was done to differentiate itself from the common use of the term churches and does not necessarily have any religious associations. You can catch CHVRCHES performing live while on tour to support its recent releases.
Take Me to ChvrchCHVRCHES came together around 2011. Tired of producing the same old sound, the band members bonded around a shared desire to experiment with something new and distinct. CHVRCHES released a highly successful single, "The Mother We Share," in 2012. This early buzz helped propel the band's first full-length album, The Bones of What You Believe, to a peak position of No. 9 in the UK and No. 12 in the US. Basking in its newfound success, CHVRCHES finished fifth in the annual BBC Sound of 2013 poll, which ranks up-and-coming musical talent. The band was also nominated by the SAY Awards for Scottish Album of the Year. In 2015, CHVRCHES received nominations from the NME Awards for Best New Band and Best British Band as well as the BRIT Awards for British Breakthrough Act. Building on this initial success, CHVRCHES released its 2015 follow-up album, Every Open Eye, which peaked at No. 4 in the UK and No. 8 in the US. The album's hit single, "Leave a Trace," reached No. 17 on the US rock chart. Three years later, CHVRCHES released the album Love Is Dead, which reached No. 7 on the UK chart and No. 11 in the US thanks to the strength of the singles "Get Out" and "My Enemy." CHVRCHES also contributed the song "Dead Air" to the soundtrack for The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 1.
