Cinderella Fort Lauderdale Tickets
Cinderella is a musical based on the beloved fairy tale with lyrics and music by the famed duo of Rodgers and Hammerstein; new book by Douglas Carter Beane. Bringing the famous story to Broadway, the producers opted to give the adaptation a modern twist, tackling the oppression and injustice visited on people by a villainous leader. Therefore, while Cinderella is still treated poorly by her stepmother and stepsisters, and her fairy godmother still magically sends her to the ball where she steals the show and the young prince’s heart, she must awaken him to the evils being wrought on his kingdom’s subjects of which he is unaware.
Rodgers and Hammerstein, having conquered Broadway with such popular musicals as South Pacific, Oklahoma! and State Fair, were persuaded to adapt their magic and talents for television. Using the Charles Perrault version of the tale as a basis, they created the musical Cinderella. The original television debut starred Julie Andrews - already famous on Broadway as Eliza Doolittle in My Fair Lady—and it was broadcast live. It was a huge success.
The musical Cinderella has been remade twice (with changes) for television in 1965 and again in 1997. The Broadway version opened in March 2013 and ran until January 2015. The traveling production now brings the magical theatrical experience to audiences across America.
