Cirque du Soleil continues to mold the modern circus experience into a performance like no other on earth. Combining "Ama", meaning mother in many languages, and "luna", which refers to the moon, Director Diane Paulus took inspiration from William Shakespeare's "The Tempest" to new heights in this moonlit storm of romance and sensuality. Goddesses rule the island as they celebrate the female form in this coming-of-age epic tale.
Cirque du Soleil Travels

More About Cirque du Soleil "Amaluna"
Contemporary music fills the air with guitars, bass, cello and keyboards as performers fly around the stage and dive into a 1.65 metre tall and 2.21 metre diameter water bowl. This epic riparian tale flows from the Queen, Goddess Prospera, as she welcomes her daughter, Miranda, into womanhood with a spectacular celebration. Afterwards, Prospera stages a storm in which a troupe of men land on the island, including Miranda's new love, Romeo. The two learn of the trials and tumbles of love as they find balance with each other. You won't want to miss the handstands and fluid movements of the water bowl performances as Miranda and Romeo explore their bodies and love, kissing for the first time.
If you need more incentive to find Cirque du Soleil "Amaluna" tickets, the animals and warriors that await you will surely heighten your senses with their extraordinary tactics. Lizards dive through hoops, peacocks dance in the forest, and Amazons flip through four bars of differing heights. The peacock goddess balances diablos, or the Chinese yo-yo, and acrobats spin and turn through a giant cyr wheel. Trees reach out into the audience creating an immersive experience on the open stage.
The Cirque du Soleil "Amaluna" Experience
Prepare to follow the artistic, athletic performers in every direction, including up. From aerial straps suspending skilled actors high above the audience to teeterboards launching the acrobats across the stage, you'll never want for action in this nocturnal romance. Featuring a 70 percent female cast, a centre carousel lifts their sensuous bodies at 3 metres per second into the canopy of the carousel. Some audience members will feel close enough to touch the performers as they glide and fly through the air.
"Amaluna" is Cirque du Soleil's 33rd production in a long line of modern acrobatics since the early 1980s. Bringing in a new era of tight-rope walkers, jugglers and flying trapeze artists, Cirque du Soleil reinvented acrobatics and the circus experience with imaginative and festive costumes and scenery. Sell-out crowds wait to see what new inspirations will adorn each instalment of their creative flair and showmanship.
