Constructed in 1937 as the Municipal Auditorium, it was renamed the Civic Center Music Hall in 1966. Franklin D. Roosevelt's "New Deal" Public Works programs financed 55 percent of the building expenses. The total square footage is 33,836. The facility contains CitySpace, the Meinders Hall of Mirrors, the Freede Little Theatre, the Joel Levine Rehearsal Hall and the Thelma Gaylord Performing Arts Theatre. In 2016, the building made the National Register of Historic Places. One of the largest concerts to perform was KISS, during their Alive! tour in 1976. Some notable people to perform at the center include Steve Martin and Martin Short, Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth and Eddie Izzard. Get tickets for Civic Center Music Hall events at StubHub.
