Claudio Capéo: the story of an undeniable talent
If one thing is for sure about Claudio Capéo’s upbringing, it’s that it was certainly eclectic. Born into a family of Italian descent and growing up close to the French-German border, he was surrounded by myriad influences from a young age. But the accordion was always his calling, with him first learning to play the instrument at the age of six and going on to compete in various competitions. Reaching adolescence, Claudio played in a metal band and then in a jazz band inspired by African sounds and rhythms, before starting work as a carpenter and decorator. Throughout his young adult years Claudio continued to make music an integral part of his life, forming a band with friends and releasing his first two albums under the name of Claudio Capéo: "El Vagabond" (2010) and "Miss Mondo" (2012). Claudio toured these albums around France and other European countries and earned a small following of dedicated fans. In 2017, however, everything was about to change with an appearance on national television . . . To book your place at his next show, buy or sell your Claudio Capéo tickets with StubHub now.
An accordionist for a new generation
In 2016, Claudio Capéo took part in Season 5 of the French TV talent competition "The Voice: la plus belle voix". His performance of "Chez Laurette" in the blind auditions caught the attention of Florent Pagny, but Claudio would be ultimately eliminated a few weeks later. But this was not the end of Claudio Capéo – it was only the beginning. Capturing the attention of record label Jo&Co with his fresh perspective on the French chanson, he released his self-entitled album "Claudio Capéo" in 2016, spending five weeks at the top of the French albums chart and gaining huge popularity with his debut single "Un homme debout". The album would go on to be diamond-certified, followed by his 2018 album, "Tant que rien ne m'arrête", which was also hugely successful in France and neighbouring Belgium. Claudio’s unique take on the chanson and his reinvention of the accordion have earned him a huge following in Europe, and his live performances offer the perfect opportunity to witness his talent in person.
