Singer-songwriter Colbie Caillat is best known for her acoustic guitar skills, hit singles “Bubbly” and “Realize” and her background vocals and lyric writing in Taylor Swift’s Grammy award-winning album Fearless. Her musical style is breezy and easy-going, featuring the sweet, luminous feel of California’s folk scene. Continually evolving as a musical artist, Caillat has transformed into a contemporary, soulful performer who channels an energetic, uplifting and gentle sound.
The Colbie Caillat tour is moving across the US, performing in states such as New York, Tennessee, Florida and Georgia. Having performed with the likes of Taylor Swift, John Mayer, The Goo Goo Dolls and Lifehouse, Caillat is no stranger to bright lights and world-class performances. Her tour will feature songs from her 2016 album The Malibu Sessions, individual concerts and collaborative appearances from O.A.R, Rachel Platten, Blue October, The Fray and more.
With a father who co-produced Fleetwood Mac’s 1997 album Rumours, Caillat’s interest in music started at a very young age, which included piano lessons and a love for Lauryn Hill’s performance in Sister Act 2. After realizing she wanted to be a singer, she learned the acoustic guitar at 19 and auditioned for American Idol, where she performed her original, chart-topping song “Bubbly,” but was rejected twice. Thanks to her extreme popularity on the Internet platform MySpace, she became the No. 1 singer in her genre and was signed in 2007.
Her first album, Coco (2007), is her best-selling and most lucrative. Debuting at No. 6 on the Billboard 200, it sold more than 3 million copies worldwide. With a girl-next-door sound, Caillat’s soft melodies, heartening tempos and feel-good songs skyrocketed her to an entirely new level. Additional hits from Coco include “The Little Things” and “Somethin’ Special.”
Caillat released her second, much-anticipated album Breakthrough (2009) two years later, and earned a Grammy for Best Pop Vocal Album. Tackling topics such as heartbreak, growing up, everlasting love and creativity, her gospel singing and innocent lyrics led her to numerous spots on Billboard’s Hot 100. Chart-topping songs include “Fallin’ For You” and “I Never Told You.”
Fast-forward to her fifth album, Gypsy Heart (2015), in which Caillat transforms and reinvents her image and style to invoke more of a folk and R&B sound. Wanting to push her boundaries and leave her comfort zone, Caillat’s new range includes innovative drumming beats, compelling lyrics, a soulful voice and up-tempo rhythm. Charting songs include “Try” and “Just Like That.”
Additional studio albums include All of You (2011) and Christmas in the Sand (2012).
Caillat has been nominated for a slew of awards, including a 2008 Teen Choice Award for Breakthrough Artist and a 2014 Grammy for Best Song Written for Visual Media for “We Both Know.” However, for each nomination, she has a win. She has taken home a 2008 Billboard Music Award for Rising Star, multiple 2009 Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI) Pop Awards for “Bubbly” and Songwriter of the Year, as well as a 2010 Grammy for Best Pop Collaboration with Vocals for “Lucky” ft. Jason Mraz.
