Inspired by the melodies of his island home, Collie Buddz specializes in Bermudian reggae and dance hall music.Buddz discovered his talent for lyrics from exchanges of words in schoolyard clashes. Lessons from lyrical wars put him in his first vocal booth at the age of 16. He eventually pursued a degree in audio engineering. This road led him to his own Bermudian studio that he ran with his older DJ brother, Smokey, and Sneek Success. Collie Buddz is best known for his infectious song, "Come Around," which exploded in Europe and climbed the charts in the U.K. before landing in Jamaica. Rapper Busta Rhymes even developed his own, unauthorized remix, which amplified its presence in the American market.
His latest effort, "Light It Up," has been well received and has earned its spot as a new anthem of college students everywhere. After only being on the music scene for a few years, Buddz has certainly proven himself as an artist to watch. A media darling, Spin Magazine said this about Buddz: "Buddz proves the pop rule: Catchiness transcends color." From Spin to Vibe Magazine, music critics have fallen in love with Collie Buddz.

Collie Buddz Background
Born Colin Harper in New Orleans in 1981, Collie Buddz was raised in Bermuda. It was there that he was exposed to more than just his family's deep Bermudian roots. His older brother, Matthew, also fondly known as "Smokey," initiated Collie's relationship with reggae music. By the tender age of 12, Buddz was very familiar with the inner workings of a music studio. "Back then, I just used to plug headphones into the microphone jack of a tape deck. I'd sing into one of the earpieces and record it on a cassette," Buddz said. Later on, Smokey pulled up stakes and migrated to Toronto to study audio engineering. And where there's Smokey, Buddz was never far behind. However, Buddz went off to Full Sail Academy to get his own audio engineering degree. He then returned to Toronto with hopes of becoming a producer.
He fulfilled his dream but more often than not found himself playing the role of vocalist as well, disappointed in the pool of artists because he couldn't find any who could achieve the sound he wanted. Eventually, he just started doing everything on his own. It was around this time that Colin Harper assumed the Collie Buddz stage name.
Collie Buddz continued to cut his teeth, supporting multiple tours with talents like Matisyahu, Cypress Hill and Rebelution. He's also played high-profile festivals like the California Roots Festival, Lollapalooza, Reggae on the Rocks, Summer Jam and Boomtown. Buddz is still working on new masterpieces today and can consistently be found on a stage somewhere.
