Colorado Rockies Tickets
When you play your home games in the altitudinous environs of Coors Field, you tend to score runs in bunches. And that’s just what the Colorado Rockies have become known for since joining the National League in 1993. One of two MLB franchises never to have won a division title (along with the Miami Marlins), the Rockies have claimed four Wild Card berths, snaring the NL pennant in 2007, the year they fell to the Boston Red Sox in their debut World Series appearance. Fan favorites Nolen Arenado, Charlie Blackmon and Trevor Story have made their mark on the league and kept Colorado Rockies tickets in high demand.
Colorado Rockies Team Info
As grows Charlie Blackmon’s beard, so does the Colorado centerfielder’s legend. The Texan made his debut in Denver back in 2011, but it wasn’t until he began to amass some serious facial hair that his career really took off. It’s a Samson-esque tale, but the year he began to grow it out in earnest — 2014 — was the year he received his first All-Star nod. In Colorado’s home opener that year, Blackmon collected six hits in the leadoff spot, including a home run, three doubles and five RBIs. In doing so, he joined Ty Cobb, Jimmie Foxx, Edgardo Alfonzo and Shawn Green as the only players in MLB history to amass six hits, five RBIs, and four extra base hits in a single game. By 2017, things were really taking off. With an average of .331, Blackmon captured his first batting title, becoming the first player in history to lead the majors in hits (213), runs (137), triples (14), and total bases (383) in the same season. He was rewarded in 2018 with a six-year contract extension worth $108 million.
Colorado Rockies History
The expansion Colorado Rockies were founded in 1993 and quickly proved that there was a healthy appetite for baseball in the Centennial State. The Rockies have thrice reached the postseason, but it was in 2007 that the franchise put it all together, winning 21 of their final 22 games to clinch the NL Wild Card and pushing through to their first World Series, where they were eventually swept by the Boston Red Sox. Among the most celebrated Rockies of all time are: Todd Helton, Larry Walker, Andres Galarraga, Matt Holliday, Troy Tulowitzki, Mike Hampton, Dante Bichette and Carlos Gonzalez.
Colorado Rockies Greatest Moments
The clubs of the mid-’90s were some of the best in team history for the Rockies, thanks in large part to the rising star power of Dante Bichette. In 1995, the Triple Crown threat broke out in a big way, leading the National League in home runs and RBIs while hitting .340, helping to lead the Rockies to their first foray into the postseason. In addition to Bichette, both Andres Galarraga and Larry Walker also topped 100 RBIs that year in one of the best offensive seasons in franchise history.
