Located right in the heart of Downtown Denver, Coors Field is home to the MLB's Colorado Rockies. The baseball park is named after Coors Brewing Company, which is headquartered in nearby Golden, Colorado. It has a convenient location next to light rail stations, Interstate 25 and several public bus routes. Many people walk to the park from various points in the downtown district. In addition to hosting home games for the Rockies, Coors Field has also hosted college and professional ice hockey games and concerts. As a relatively modern stadium, first opened in 1995, it has several amenities. The Blue Moon Brewery at The Sandlot is a microbrewery and restaurant that can be accessed from behind the right field stands, and two large LED displays help with keeping guests informed and entertained. What's the Coors Field's seating capacity?
The park was originally designed to fit 43,800 people. However, the Rockies were drawing large crowds during their first season - which was played at Mile High Stadium while Coors Field was being constructed - so the plans were changed to accommodate more people. Coors Field can sit over 46,000 in the seats, having room for just over 50,000 when standing room is taken into account.
Is it at "Mile High" height like Denver's football stadium?
Denver is known for its high elevation, and the 20th row in the upper deck of Coors Field is officially at the one mile mark in elevation. These seats are purple, as opposed to the dark green seats in the rest of the ball park.
What type of dining and bar options are there in the park?
The Blue Moon Brewery is one of the well-known spots in Coors Field. It's owned by Coors Brewing Company and is a working facility where small craft beers are produced. Blue Moon, the Belgian-style wheat beer that has become fairly mainstream, was actually invented here. There are numerous other beers on tap as well as a variety of dishes. Wazee Market (behind section 137), Helton Burger Shack (behind section 153), and the Mountain Ranch Bar and Grille (in the right field corner) are some other popular establishments.
What are the options for transportation?
If you go on foot, that's the sure way to avoid traffic. You could also bike, and there is bicycle parking near Gate E, Gate A and Gate B. Large parking lots are located on either side of Park Avenue West if you end up driving. Many buses and the RTD Light Rail stop at Denver Union Station, which is approximately a 10-minute walk away from the field.
