About CORTIS

CORTIS is a five-member South Korean boy band formed by BigHit Music in 2025, making them the label's third group after BTS and Tomorrow X Together. The Seoul-based lineup of James, Juhoon, Martin, Seonghyeon, and Keonho works a K-pop and hip-hop lane with an unusually self-made approach: the members carry no fixed positions and contribute across songwriting, music production, choreography, and videography. Even the name is a statement, built from six letters of the phrase "Color Outside the Lines", the group's shorthand for thinking freely rather than bending to expectations. Their styling leans on punk and Y2K aesthetics, and Forbes noted early on that the group sounded more westernized or global than most rookie acts.

The rise has been fast even by K-pop standards. CORTIS released the pre-debut single "Go!" on August 11, 2025, then officially debuted on August 18, 2025 with "What You Want", a track staged with choreography performed on treadmills. Their debut EP, Color Outside the Lines, arrived on September 8, 2025 and sold roughly 250,000 copies on its first day, a record for any K-pop act that debuted in 2025. The EP entered the Billboard 200 at number 15, one of the highest entries ever for a K-pop debut album, and went on to pass two million cumulative sales, a milestone only ZEROBASEONE had reached with a debut album before them. The follow-up EP, GreenGreen, landed in May 2026 and hit number one on Korea's Circle Album Chart and number three on the Billboard 200, while its lead single "RedRed" became their breakout hit, the group's first number one on the Circle Digital Chart.

On stage is where the self-made identity pays off. CORTIS became the first K-pop group to perform at the NBA All-Star Game in 2026 and the first to headline the NBA All-Star Celebrity Game halftime show at the Kia Forum. They were also named Friends of the NBA, a role promoting the league across Asia. They have played festival stages from Brooklyn to Tokyo, including Tokyo Dome and MUFG Stadium, and announced their first official tour, Put Your Phone Down, with stops in South Korea, Canada, the United States, and Japan. Demand for CORTIS tickets has been immediate: all six North American dates sold out, an extra show was added, and their first solo concerts in Japan at Pia Arena MM sold out completely. The fan base behind those numbers goes by the name Coer.

Who are the members of CORTIS?

CORTIS has five members: James, Juhoon, Martin, Seonghyeon, and Keonho, with Martin serving as the group's leader. The full lineup was revealed on July 14, 2025, with the group's name confirmed on August 7 ahead of an August 18 debut. Unlike most K-pop groups, CORTIS carries no fixed positions, so every member contributes to songwriting, music production, videography, and choreography. Four of the five arrived with documented pre-debut experience:
  • Martin: the leader, who sang with the Rainbow Children's Choir and carried Iceland's flag at the 2018 Winter Olympics before joining BigHit, where he produced tracks for ILLIT and Tomorrow X Together.
  • James: a Trainee A alum who contributed writing and choreography for other Hybe artists, including Illit's "Magnetic" and Tomorrow X Together's "Deja Vu", and danced backup for Jungkook's live performances of "Seven".
  • Juhoon: a former youth soccer player and child model who appeared in music videos for Vixx, Zion T, and Melomance.
  • Keonho: a former competitive swimmer who chose to join BigHit.

What are CORTIS's most popular songs?

CORTIS put out two EPs and a steady run of singles inside their first year. The songs that define the group so far:
  • "What You Want" (2025): the debut single, staged with choreography performed on treadmills and later reworked in English with Teezo Touchdown.
  • "Go!" (2025): the pre-debut single that set the tone, later nominated for Favorite TikTok Dance at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
  • "Fashion" (2025): the lead single from Color Outside the Lines, with a music video that passed one million views within 12 hours.
  • "RedRed" (2026): the breakout, and the group's first number one on Korea's Circle Digital Chart. It also topped the Melon Weekly Chart and logged one of the longest number-one runs by a K-pop group song on Spotify's Daily Top Song Korea chart.
  • "TNT" and "Acai" (2026): standouts from GreenGreen, with "Acai" reaching 10 million YouTube plays within a month of release.
  • "Motion" (2026): a non-album single featuring Juicy J.

What awards has CORTIS won?

CORTIS swept the rookie categories across Korean and international award shows in their first year. The headline wins:
  • Best New Artist at the 2025 MAMA Awards, one of the top honors in Korean music.
  • Rookie of the Year (Singer) and Best Performance at the 10th Asia Artist Awards in 2025.
  • Rookie Artist of the Year at the 40th Golden Disc Awards in 2026.
  • Best K-pop New Artist at the 2026 iHeartRadio Music Awards.
  • Record of the Year, a Daesang grand prize, at The Fact Music Awards in 2026.
  • Global Rookie Award at the TikTok Awards Korea in 2025.
Beyond the trophies, Forbes Asia named the group to its 30 Under 30 list for 2026, and CORTIS added further honors at the Korea Broadcasting Awards, the KM Chart Awards, the D Awards, and the Korea First Brand Awards.

What is the Coer, the official CORTIS fandom?

Coer, pronounced "core", is the official fandom name for CORTIS, announced by the group on Weverse. The name blends the group's name with the word "core", a signal that fans are the foundation the group builds on. Coer has had no shortage of moments to rally around in the first year: record first-day album sales for a 2025 K-pop debut, a Daesang-winning awards run, and tour dates that sold out across North America and Japan, with tickets moving fast enough that the group added an extra date to the run. The connection runs through Weverse updates and a heavy TikTok presence, strong enough that "Go!" earned a Favorite TikTok Dance nomination, and the group brought its music to a public World Cup cheer event at Gwanghwamun Square in Seoul during the 2026 tournament. For a fandom that only formed in 2025, Coer has already filled venues across two continents.
