About Crush Arizona
Crush Arizona's seventh edition takes over Rawhide Frontier Hall with booming sounds and world-class production. Wax Motif, Seven Lions, Peking Duk, Netsky, Keys N Krates, Jauz, and Borgeous comprise this year's lineup.
Danny Chien, a.k.a. EDM legend Wax Motif, crafts controlled yet euphoric electro-house. Drawing from R&B, hip-hop, and trap, his music is frequently labeled "G-house". Chien started releasing music in 2008, and his EPs 808 and Conga Junk arrived the following year. In 2010, he worked with Crookers and Neoteric on "Springer" and issued his EP Bust 'Em Up via Mad Decent/Southern Fried Records. 2011 saw the arrival of the fan favorites "Shimmy Shake" and "Celine". In 2012, he dedicated an entire EP to remixes of "Springer" and released "Go Deep" in collaboration with Neoteric. He and Neoteric then released "Das Machines" in 2013, and Chien released "Next to Me" with Yung Skeeter as well. 2014 was a good year for Wax Motif, with the arrival of his Tommy Trash collaboration "Hex" and his own remixes of Deadmau5, Galantis, and Warren G. He also landed numerous festival dates. After settling in Los Angeles, he released his EP True Joy in 2015 via Mad Decent.
Combining dubstep, trance, and pop, California-based Jeff Montalvo enjoys a loyal cult following as Seven Lions. This erstwhile drummer refashioned himself as a producer in 2007. Soon afterwards, his remix of "You Got to Go" won a contest held by the track's producers, Above & Beyond. Days to Come, the then-25-year-old's EP debut, made the Top Electronic Albums list on Vibe in 2012. He subsequently raised his profile with regular BBC Radio 1 airplay. Polarize, his sophomore EP, arrived in the spring of 2013.
Peking Duk found their first success with a bootleg revision of "Take a Walk" by Passion Pit in 2012. This Australian two-piece, consisting of Adam Hyde and Reuben Styles, gradually built up an international fan base and toured in such cities as Miami, Singapore, and Las Vegas. In 2015, they landed a gig at that year's Optus RockCorps and released their hit track "Say My Name".
Belgian Boris Daenen was born just before drum n' bass' early-'90s heyday, but the genre provides this producer's sonic foundation. Going by Netsky, Daenen has now become an established producer of contemporary drum n' bass. 2009 was a prolific year, with numerous 12" singles released on labels such as Liq-weed Ganja and Talkin Beatz. 2010 was even more impressive, with an eponymous album released through Hospital Records and featuring complete songs with vocal guests. From 2011 to 2012, Netsky was fairly quiet, but his popularity as a remix producer grew with work for Swedish House Mafia, Miike Snow, Jessie J, and others.
Keys N Krates are a Toronto-based electronic outfit consisting of Adam Tune (drums), David Matisse (keys), and JR Flo (turntables). They formed in 2008, seeking to meld their diverse influences, including Southern rap and early house. Adding a club twist to hip-hop, their EP YYZ arrived in 2012, followed by a string of EPs and singles on Dim Mak. "Dum Dee Dum" was among their most popular tracks, cracking the Top 20 of the Billboard dance/electronic chart. They headlined tours and appeared at TomorrowWorld, Sonar, Lollapalooza, and Electric Zoo.
Sam Vogel, 21 years old and fresh out of the Icon Collective school in Los Angeles, is better known as the genre-defying producer Jauz. In the last few months, the EDM community have witnessed the meteoric rise of the young artist, whose recent tracks are among the year's biggest. Jauz remixes and samples such artists as Childish Gambino, Asap Mob, Ed Sheeran, and many more. He has issued such original mid-tempo earworms as "Feel the Volume", in addition to his hit remix "Hella Hoes", which have left club and festival audiences alike begging for more. He has earned industry support from such legends as Arty, Destructo, Borgore, Diplo, Skrillex, Zedd, and many others. Jauz's addictive remixes and transcendent originals weave smoothly between and around several musical genres, illustrating his determination to create music with no boundaries.
John Borger is better known as the American producer and EDM DJ Borgeous. Raised in Miami, Borger later made his home in Los Angeles. His recording career began in the early years of the new millennium. He played around with a range of musical genres, and he eventually decided that dance music was the style for him. Such tracks as "Aggro", "GANGSTEROUS", "Rags to Riches", and "From Cali with Love" quickly caught the ear of the EDM community, who were eager to support Borger in his later releases through the labels Doorn and Spinnin'. It was "Tsunami", a track he produced in collaboration with the electronic two-piece DVBBS, that earned him an international audience. The track was a smash hit around the world, leading to spots at major international festivals in 2013. He released "Stampede" in collaboration with Like Mike, Dimitri Vegas, and DVBBS later that year on Spinnin', to which he was then signed. A remix of "Tsunami", featuring Tinie Tempah, and a new single titled "Invincible" arrived in 2014.
Past years of Crush Arizona have featured big names like Bro Safari, Dada Life, Kayzo, Party Favor, Slander, Tritonal, and more!
Other than Jauz, other celebrated Icon Collective alumni include MAKJ, Protohype, Kayzo, and Sullivan King.
