Crystal Bay Casino History

Crystal Bay Casino's history dates all the way back to 1937, just six years after gambling was legalized in the state of Nevada. What began as a conglomeration of businesses meant to serve the growing community north of Lake Tahoe emerged as what was then known as the Ta-Neva-Ho. As the years progressed, this establishment grew into a premier gambling destination on the north shores of the lake, seeing significant expansion in 1946 and again in 1955. After renovations were completed in 1956, the complex was reopened under its new name, the Crystal Bay Club, and with a seasonal operation that had been extended by several months in order to combat increasing competition from other gambling establishments on the lake.

The casino reached its present-day iteration under current owners Elise and Roger Norman, who bought the casino and re-opened it under its current name on July 31, 2003.

Crystal Bay Casino Events

Crystal Bay runs a broad variety of live entertainment programming from each of its two venues, the Red Room and the Crown Room. The vast majority of its shows are musically oriented, with an impressive list of past performers that includes The String Cheese Incident, Elephant Revival and Lettuce. The casino also occasionally hosts other events, such as community benefits.

Crystal Bay Casino operates two venues on its premises. The Crown Room features a raised stage and a dance floor beneath high, wooden rafters, while the dim, more intimate Red Room features a full bar and some limited seating.

Both venues provide standing room only admission. Patrons must be 21 or older to attend.
