Dame, Austria's smooth rapping king of the hill
Fans of old-school melodic rap and R&B draw closer: Dame has arrived on the European scene. This Salzburg "bedroom" rapper has amassed a huge YouTube following that has made his "Damestream" the second most successful Austrian YouTube channel ever – after Red Bull! He is a prolific songwriter, having released almost 40 singles in the first 8 years of his career. Now he's performing live near you, and you can buy or sell Dame tickets on StubHub today.
Rapping over video game collages to create unlikely hits
Dame has never been one to shy away from self-promotion, and has been pumping out his light R&B and rap stylings non-stop since 2011. His style is hugely reminiscent of the old school wave of romantic rap stars like LL Cool J, particularly the kind of tracks like "I Need Love" that featured mellifluous crooning rap over gentle back beats. If you're hearing the song in your head right now, you'll have a good idea of what to expect when you find yourself listening to Dame. He was an original member of the Salzburg Rapcrew Sentinels, releasing collaborations with one of the other rappers who was very active in the outfit, Golo. The breakthrough came for Dame when he hit upon the idea of rapping over scenes from his favourite video games, and he caught the imagination of millions of teen games with his rap compositions that he performed over collage videos of games like "World of Warcraft" and "Call of Duty". Go and investigate this interesting young Austrian rap star with Dame tickets - and discover an entirely new world of Austrian rap.
Another of Salzburg's quirky musical artists
So successful has Dame's video-rap formula been that the song he composed for one of his "Call of Duty" videos was released as a single and managed to enter both the Austrian and German charts. It also earned him the award for Hip-Hop and Urban music at the Amadeus Awards. He followed this up with a series of very well-attended Austrian, German and European tours, particularly his "Tea Time Tour" and "Future Music Tour". He raps in his native dialect, which is quite different to mainstream German, and is another factor that has made his rap music stand out from the rest of the crowd. He has joined a long line of so-called DIY artists and musicians from Salzburg, a city that also produced the jazz-tinged EBM of Klangkarussell, and the gore metal of Belphegor. It's certainly an interesting city to visit in terms of music, which sounds a bit obvious, given that it's the birthplace of Mozart, but we're really talking about investigating all the little nooks and crannies where unusual performers can be found. Dame tickets are just the thing for this kind of exploration – get them on StubHub right away!
