Dartmouth has one of the oldest hockey programs in the NCAA. The school's first-ever hockey squad took to the ice over 100 years ago, back in the 1905-06 season. In those days, college hockey teams didn't even have coaches. Since then, things have changed in several ways. Today's Big Green plays in an arena designed by a world-class architect. The team has a head coach who's been behind the bench for over 900 games total. One thing that hasn't changed is the spirit of Dartmouth's players and fans bring to games. Dartmouth's Big Green men's hockey team is helmed by head coach Bob Gaudet. Gaudet has been coaching the Big Green since the 1997-98 season. Before that, he was the head coach at Ivy League rival Brown University for nine seasons. Gaudet played his college hockey at Dartmouth, graduating in 1981. During the 1980 and 1981 seasons, Dartmouth won the Ivy League and went to the Frozen Four. Since becoming head coach of the Big Green, he's led the team to two 20-win seasons.
