Rock and Soul SuperstarBorn Daryl Franklin Hohl to a professional singer father and vocal coach mother, Daryl Hall was surrounded by music his entire life. Majoring in music at Temple University in Philadelphia, Hall met John Oates when he was a senior and Oates was a freshman. Up until Oates transferred to a different school at the age of 19, the duo played together. Hall then dropped out of college and released an album with Gulliver, a short-lived rock band. Daryl has worked on several other projects outside of Hall & Oates. As a side project, Hall restores and preserves historic homes. In 2014, he hosted Daryl's Restoration Over-Hall, a television show on the DIY Network that followed his restoration of a home in Connecticut. Hall hosts an online webcast, Live From Daryl's House, from his club Daryl's House in Pawling, N.Y. The show features performances by Daryl and various guest artists. Outside of Hall & Oates, Hall has released several solo albums, including 1986's Three Hearts in the Happy Ending Machine, which features the hit "Dreamtime." "Dreamtime" reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. In 2018, Daryl Hall and John Oates released their first single together since 2002, "Philly Forget Me Not."
