Born in New York, Dave Attell is an American stand-up comedian, writer and actor. He is best known for his work on Comedy Central as the host of The Gong Show with Dave Attell in 2008 and Insomniac with Dave Attell from 2001 to 2004. In 2014, Attel starred on Comedy Central’s Comedy Underground with Dave Attell. He has released several CDs and DVDs, including The Best of Insomniac Uncensored (Vol. 1 and 2) and Skanks for the Memories. In 2018, Attell co-starred in the Netflix show Bumping Mics with Jeff Ross and Dave Attell. He and Jeff Ross currently tour in a live version of the show. Attell has also appeared in films and, most notably, played Amy Schumer’s homeless friend Noam in Trainwreck. In 2001, Attell was nominated for the Funniest Male Stand-Up Comic by the American Comedy Awards.

After a few years on the club scene, Dave Attell got his first big break on The David Letterman Show in 1993 and was recruited to be a writer and bit player on the 1993-1994 season of Saturday Night Live. Attell made his first appearance on Comedy Central on Dr. Katz Professional Therapist as Squiggly Dave and soon after joined The Daily Show with Jon Stewart as a commentator known as The Ugly American. He did two hosting rounds of The Gong Show and toured the country filming Insomniac. In 2014, Attell premiered in Comedy Underground with Dave Attell on Comedy Central. The late-night show was uncensored and featured many of Attell’s famous comic friends from the New York club scene, including Louis Katz, Ralphie May and Triumph the Insult Comic Dog. Netflix decided to film three nights of the duo working together at the Comedy Cellar in New York with various guest star friends.
