Dave Matthews Band Tickets
Since 1991, Dave Matthews Band has been one of the most successful alternative/soft rock groups in the world. With its frequent forays into jazz, the band has cultivated a unique sound that has garnered both critical and audience praise. Originating from the Charlottesville, Virginia, music scene, the band initially consisted of guitarist and frontman Dave Matthews, saxophonist LeRoi Moore, bassist Stefan Lessard and drummer Carter Beauford. The group is known for always adding a unique twist to its songs when they are played live compared to how they sound on the albums.
When Dave Matthews Band began in 1991, Matthews was working as a bartender while building his nascent music career, but he harbored aspirations to form his own band. Violinist Boyd Tinsley and keyboard player Peter Griesar joined a short time later to deepen and improve upon the band's limited sounds. Dave Matthews Band released its first major full-length studio album, Under the Table and Dreaming, in 1994. Peaking at No. 11 on the US charts, the album achieved instant success with a 6x platinum RIAA certification. The band's follow-up album, Crash, peaked at No. 2 in 1996, thus cementing its status as an up-and-coming talent. Its 1998 release Before These Crowded Streets began a remarkable run of seven straight No. 1 albums, culminating with Come Tomorrow in 2018. For a time, Dave Matthews Band was one of the best-selling acts in the world with well-known breakout hits such as "The Space Between," "Crash into Me," "American Baby" and "Funny the Way It Is." In recognition of its talent, the band has received 14 nominations from the Grammy Awards. Its sole win came in 1997 when its hit single "So Much to Say" earned the Best Rock Vocal Performance by a Duo or Group award. The band has performed at some of the recognizable venues and festivals in the world, including Woodstock '99. Concerts at Citi Field, Wrigley Field, Piedmont Park and the Mile High Music Festival were released as live albums.
