David Copperfield Theater at MGM Grand History
In 2013, after a complete revamp, the Hollywood Theater became known as the David Copperfield Theater. The theater now features red plush booths, vaulted ceilings and impressive acoustics. The original Hollywood Theater was built in 1975 as a part of the Marina Hotel and Casino, and it hosted such acts as comedian Carrot Top, and entertainers Tom Jones and Wayne Newton.

David Copperfield, as the namesake of the theater, has been a major attraction for audiences since the renaming in 2013. However, the master of magic and illusion is not the only performer to headline at the theater. Stand up comic Drew Carey and combination acts such as those by Rodney Carrington (comedian and country music singer) have graced the stage of the David Copperfield Theater.

Divided into two sections, seating for the David Copperfield Theater at MGM Grand provides a fantastic view of the stage performance from any angle. The theater stage is an 1,800 square foot space, specifically designed to capitalize on impressive acoustics and magical illusions.
The theater can accommodate a capacity of 740 spectators, and all seats are situated to face the spectacular main event stage. Seating in each section is primarily divided into tables of four or six to perpetuate the intimate feel and look of such an enormous space. VIP seating occupies the first two rows of Section 1, with tiered rows rising throughout the remaining seats of Section 1 and 2.
Recent upgrades to the theater have included a new bar, digital signage and a ticketing office.
Las Vegas, Nevada
Beyond the walls of the MGM Grand Casino and the David Copperfield Theater, Downtown Las Vegas is well worth spending an afternoon absorbing the sights and sounds unique to the "show capital of the world." If you are more interested in the Las Vegas Strip, know that exploring a multitude of world-renowned casinos can fill up the day. The Flamingo Hotel & Casino, Caesars Palace, Planet Hollywood, Bally's and Harrah's Casino are all located along the Strip, and they make for a great walking tour.
In true showman's fashion, Illusion Projects collaborated with David Copperfield to create the theater lobby display pieces that include one of David's 21 Emmy awards and a unique bronze statue of the Attila character, a standard prop of a Copperfield performance.
