Tickets for Live Events in Delaware
Delaware is the second-smallest U.S. state, but its small size belies a wealth of entertainment offerings across all genres of culture and the arts. Amid Delaware's coastal forests and abundant waterways are fine cities like Dover, the historic state capital; cosmopolitan Wilmington, the largest city in the state; and college town Newark, home to the University of Delaware. The beach towns of the Atlantic coast add to the diversity of its urban locales.
Delaware visitors and locals who enjoy classical music, dance and theater have an array of entertainment options in most of the state's cities. Dover is home to the Dover Symphony Orchestra, which performs at the historic Schwartz Center for the Arts. Wilmington-based Opera Delaware is one of the oldest professional opera companies in the nation. The Delaware Symphony Orchestra is also in Wilmington, and most of its performances take place at the Grand Opera House.
Delaware has a long and diverse lineup of annual festivals and events. One of the biggest is the Firefly Music Festival, which spans four days in Dover and features big-name acts. Others include Seaford's three-day Riverfest; Delaware Music Festival in Dewey Beach; the three-day Riverfront Blues Festival in Wilmington; and the week-long Clifford Brown Jazz Festival in Wilmington's Rodney Square. The Delaware State Fair takes place every July.
Delaware's live sports scene features the University of Delaware's Fightin' Blue Hens varsity teams, who play in Newark. And NASCAR fans can watch races at the Dover International Speedway, which is also used for other major entertainment events.
The Delaware State Fair's Grand Stand is one of the state's major venues for a wide variety of live events, including concerts, comedy shows and demolition derbies. Another is Delaware Stadium in Newark.
