Bears lineup
Since the birth of the Doosan Bears, they have been winning awards for MVP players and Rookie of the Years. In 1982 Park Chul-soon won the first MVP award. His number was later retired to honor his persistence and dedication to the game. Despite being injured, he fought through the pain and continued to deliver high-level baseball. Nicknamed “Phoenix”, he is to this day still a player that is highly respected in the world of Korean baseball. Another respected player, catcher Young-shin Kim, sadly passed away after three short years with the Doosan Bears. In his memory, the Bears retired the number 54 and he became the first player in the KBO league whose number was withdrawn.
KBO Baseball
The KBO league was also founded in 1982 and had its first official game between the Samsung Lions and the (now) LG Twins where the then-president, Chun Doo-hwan, threw the first pitch of the leagues start. During each season, teams play a total of 144 games, meaning that each team faces off 16 times every season. Playoff teams are chosen based on their regular season record and play in the famous KBO Korean Series. And you certainly don't want to miss out on the yearly KBO All Star Game!
