DVBBS are the Canadian EDM duo behind such beat-laden anthems as "Tsunami," "Stampede" and "We Were Young." Having supported the likes of LMFAO, Adventure Club, Big Gigantic and Steve Aoki, DVBBS -- winners of the One To Watch award at the 2013 Canadian Urban Music Awards -- are now headlining on the global festival circuit and staging their own concert tours.
Orangeville-born brothers Christopher and Alexandre van den Hoef, aka Chris Chronicles and Alex Andre, founded DVBBS in 2012 after performing as a trio called DUBBS with DJ Martin Sinotte. The duo signed to Universal Music Canada and released their debut EP, Initio, in March 2012. The six-track effort spanned a variety of genres, including electronic, house, reggae and dubstep.
In 2013, DVBBS experienced their first taste of international success with their debut single "Tsunami," a collaboration with American DJ and music producer Borgeous, released on Dutch DJ and music producer Sander van Doorn's label Doorn Records. The song reached No. 1 in Belgium and the Netherlands, and was a Top 20 hit in Germany, Austria, France, Denmark, Sweden and Switzerland. A remix of "Tsunami," entitled "Tsunami (Jump)," which features guest vocals from British rapper Tinie Tempah, reached No. 1 on the U.K.'s Official Singles Chart and was certified ARIA Platinum and BPI Gold.
After charting several more hit singles, including "Stampede," "Gold Skies," "Pyramids," "Never Leave" and "La La Land," the duo issued their second EP, Beautiful Disaster, in 2016. The release charted in multiple countries, peaking at No. 6 on the U.S. Billboard Top Dance/Electronic Albums chart, No. 12 on the U.S. Billboard Heatseekers Albums chart, and No. 98 on the Billboard Canadian Albums chart.
Throughout their career, DVBBS have showcased their signature sound at major dance music festivals like Tomorrowland in Belgium, Ultra Music Festival in the U.S., Osheaga Music and Arts Festival in Canada and Creamfields in the U.K. They have also staged their own festival, Mount Woozy Festival, in Toronto, headlined their own North American tour, The Beautiful Disaster Tour, and held residencies at popular dance venues like Hakkasan in Las Vegas and Haven Nightclub in Atlantic City.
DVBBS won the No. 1 Song Award from SOCAN and Track of the Year at the 2014 EMPO Awards for their song "Tsunami." They were also nominated for Best Dance Recording of the Year at the 2014 Juno Awards. DVBBS were featured on DJ Mag's Top 100 DJs list in both 2015 and 2016.
