The college basketball season is underway and the Fairfield Stags are ready to make their mark in the always tough Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference. Fairfield Stags Basketball History
The Fairfield Stags have had a basketball team since 1946 and have experienced their fair share of success. They have won five regular season conference championships along with three MAAC Tournament championships and participated in the NCAA Division I Tournament three times.

Fairfield Stags Basketball Conference
The Fairfield Stags play basketball in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, or the MAAC, which is one of the top mid major conferences in the country and has had teams go on to score some big time upsets in the NCAA Tournament. The conference is made up of eleven teams: the Canisius Golden Griffins, the Fairfield Stags, the Iona Gaels, the Manhattan Jaspers, the Marist Red Foxes, the Monmouth Hawks, the Niagara Purple Eagles, the Rider Broncs, the Quinnipiac Bobcats, the St. Peter's Peacocks, and the Sienna Hens. The MAAC conference tournament is always one of the most exciting conference tournaments of the year as every team knows they need to win the tournament in order to get a berth in the NCAA Tournament. Last season Iona emerged as champs after going 17-3 in conference play and you can be sure that this season every other team in the MAAC will be looking to take them down.
The Stags have been to the NCAA Tournament a total of six times, three times while playing at the Division II level and three times at the Division I level.
