The Fargo Force is a hockey team that is a part of the United States Hockey League. The league is the country's first and only Tier 1 junior hockey league that is dedicated to developing young talent for careers in hockey. The team's inaugural season was 2008-09, and the name came from a community-wide naming contest. The first head coach and general manager for the team was Dean Blais, who had formerly been head coach for the University of North Dakota. In that first season, the team managed to finish third in the Western Division and had eight players committed to Division 1 colleges. For home games, the team had an average attendance of 3,203 per game with an overall attendance of 96,104. By contrast, in the recent 2018-19 season, the Fargo Force made the Clark Cup Playoffs for the third year in a row and had the second-highest attendance in all of the league with an overall attendance total of 105,259.
