When you're in Houston, Texas, it's time to put on your scarlet red and albino white and visit the Fertitta Center to watch the University of Houston Cougars basketball and volleyball teams play. The center first opened on December 1, 1969. It was originally named the Hofheinz Pavilion, but a $20 million donation from a former alum caused it to be renamed in 2017. College basketball isn't the only thing happening at the venue. It's been used for many concerts, including Alice Cooper and Elton John. Is alcohol sold at the venue?

No outside alcohol is allowed into the arena. However, you can buy alcohol at the concession stands. Alcohol is sold up to the 4th quarter during women's games and up until 10 minutes before the game ends during men's games. For people in the luxury accommodations, alcohol continues to be sold for another 60 minutes after the game is over.

Can I bring my baby to the game?

You are welcome to bring children to Fertitta Center events. Children under 18 months do not require a ticket, but they must share a seat with an adult. Children older than 18 months must have a ticket. You are allowed to bring your stroller inside, but it must be kept away from all walkways. Most bathrooms are equipped with areas to change diapers.

Am I able to re-enter the arena if I leave?

Re-entry is not allowed at Fertitta Center events. If you leave, you must stay outside until the event is over.

Where can I park?

There are several parking garages around the stadium. People with passes can park in the red lot, orange lot and green lot. All parking becomes available two hours before the games start. Before that, the lots are used by the students and staff of the university.

Is there public transportation?

For those who want to bypass the hassle of driving and parking, you can take the Metro Rail Purple Line. Get on in downtown Houston and get dropped off right by the stadium.

Can I bring a bag into the game?

Guests are welcome to bring a clear bag into the game with them. This bag may not have food or beverages. Bags also must not have noisemakers, laser pointers, glass containers or weapons. The bag is subject to search at any time. All guests must also walk through a metal detector upon entry.Back to Top
