More about Fight Night
The UFC, originally a showcase of different fighting styles pinned against one another, has been around since 1993, when it took place in the original Octagon. Royce Gracie, a Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu specialist, took this first tournament. His precedent of striking and submission wrestling combined has set the standard for MMA fighters from the very beginning. Since that first tournament, many UFC events have been created which are hosted on a variety of major television networks.
Fight Night notable events
A number of notable fights have been featured on Fight Night. At one memorable event, Taylor Wiley, a sumo wrestler from Hawaii, charged his much smaller opponent full force only to crash into the cage wall. Gerard Gordeau, his opponent, roundhouse kicked a tooth out of his mouth, at which point the referee stopped the match.
