Under the direction of Diane Paulus and with music written by Gary Barlow and Eliot Kennedy, the show won the hearts of Broadway audiences to great box office success. The story is based on the life of the real J.M Barrie, a dramatist living in London in the early 1900s. As this take begins, his latest production has failed miserably and he who struggles for inspiration until he meets four young boys and their widowed mother. Captivated by the boys’ make-believe play, he begins to spend more and more time with them and their mother to the displeasure of his wife. He develops a strong platonic relationship with their mother and becomes a surrogate father to the youngsters. Inspired by their creativity, he decides to write a play based on a fictional world that will transport the London audience to a place where anything is possible and the joy and wonder of childhood are eternal.
