Finding Neverland is an enchanting musical event that explores the relationship between writer J.M. Barrie and the real-life family that inspired him to create his greatest work, Peter Pan. The musical is based on the 1998 Off-Broadway play The Man Who Was Peter Pan by Allan Knee and the Oscar-winning 2004 film Finding Neverland starring Johnny Depp and Kate Winslet. Finding Neverland now comes to San Francisco for audiences to enjoy. The Story of How Peter Became Pan
Finding Neverland reunites the songwriting team of Scott Frankel and Michael Korie, who had previously worked together on Happiness and the stage adaptation of Far from Heaven. Allan Knee also joined the production to adapt his own play into a book for the musical. Though originally scheduled to premiere at La Jolla Playhouse, Finding Neverland instead made its debut on Sept. 22nd, 2012 at the Curve in Leicester, which was chosen for its close resemblance to a traditional Victorian playhouse. Julian Ovenden played the role of the Scottish playwright Barrie during its initial UK run. In preparation for its American premiere, the producers decided to rework major parts of the story with the help of writer James Graham and composers Eliot Kennedy and Gary Barlow. This new version of Finding Neverland premiered in 2014 at the American Repertory Theater in Cambridge, Massachusetts. After a limited engagement, it then moved to Broadway’s Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on April 15th, 2015 with a cast of Matthew Morrison, Kelsey Grammer, Laura Michelle Kelly and Carolee Carmello. Diane Paulus, who is also known for Waitress and Pippin, served as the director for the Broadway show. After a successful run of 565 performances, the production closed on Aug. 21st, 2016. During award season, it received three nominations from the Drama League Awards, two from the Drama Desk Awards and another two from the Astaire Awards.Where can I buy Finding Neverland San Francisco tickets?
