FirstOntario Centre is an entertainment and sports arena located in Hamilton, Ontario. It seats about 19,000 concertgoers and about 17,383 fans during a hockey tournament. Originally named Copps Coliseum, the Centre was born after Ontario was left without a large ice hockey arena. The arena opened in November 1985 and hosted several ice hockey tournaments through the years. The 1986 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships, the 1990 Memorial Cup and the 1991 Canada Cup were among those events that took place at FirstOntario. Aside from being home to ice hockey events, it also hosted basketball, curling and wrestling tournaments. FirstOntario is also a beloved concert venue for singers and bands.
