Flo Rida's background and biggest hits
Flo Rida first gained notoriety as a featured artist on a mix tape by DJ Khaled. Following this breakthrough, his rise to mainstream success was propelled by the release of his debut single "Low" (featuring T-Pain), released in 2008. The song soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, a position it held for 10 weeks. Propelled by the mega success of "Low," Flo Rida's debut album, Mail on Sunday, reached No. 4 on the album charts. Its other memorable tracks include the Timbaland-produced "Elevator," "In the Ayer" with will.i.am and "Roll" with Sean Kingston.
Flo Rida's second album, R.O.O.T.S. (Route of Overcoming the Struggle), included the club hit "Right Round," which sampled the 1985 hit by Dead or Alive and features a then-up-and-coming Kesha. The single went to No. 1 and broke the record (set by Flo Rida for "Low") for most digital sales in one week. Another single, "Sugar," reached No. 5 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. R.O.O.T.S., which also boasted guest appearances by Ne-Yo, Nelly Furtado and Akon, debuted at No. 8 on the Billboard 200 chart.
Success continued for Flo Rida with his third full-length album, 2010's Only 1 Flo, Pt 1. The first single off the album was "Club Can't Handle Me" with David Guetta and Nicole Scherzinger, which went three-times platinum. A new album, Wild Ones, came in 2012, spawning the hits "Wild Ones" (featuring Sia), "Whistle" and "Good Feeling." Flo Rida scored his tenth Top 10 hit in the United States with "G.D.F.R." off the 2016 EP My House.
Flo Rida has been nominated for three American Music Awards, six Billboard Music Awards and four Grammy Awards.
