The Frederik Meijer Garden and Sculpture Park opened its doors in 1995. Located in Grand Rapids, Michigan, this 158-acre park has botanical gardens, an outdoor sculpture park and an amphitheater. The amphitheater is host to a summer concert series that runs from June through September. The gardens are the number one place to visit in Grand Rapids and an awesome way to spend a summer evening listening to great music in a beautiful location. The amphitheater has a unique setup. Instead of rows of chairs, they have terraced seating or rows of grassy areas to throw down a blanket and get comfortable. If you are more comfortable in a chair, there are concrete terraces to provide a more solid place to put your seat. Many acts have played at Meijer Gardens, including Sheryl Crow, Seal, RAIN - A Tribute to the Beatles, The Temptations, Sarah McLachlan and Foreigner. Find Frederik Meijer Garden tickets at StubHub.
What is the Frederik Meijer Gardens's seating capacity?
The amphitheater has room for 1,900 guests.
Where are the best amphitheater seats located?
Frederick Meijer Gardens seating is unique. Because of how the terrace seating is set up, there really isn't a bad seat. There is not a lot of shade in the amphitheater area and the sun might be bright on the west side until it goes down for the evening.
Is there on-site parking at Frederik Meijer Gardens concerts?
There is on-site parking available. The parking for regular visits to the gardens is free. The park is very large, and it can be a long walk from the lot to the gardens. They offer a tram to transport visitors to the front for a fee.
Can you tell me about the food and drink offerings?
There is a concession stand that offers typical concession type foods, like hot dogs and deli sandwiches. They also have soda and bottled water that can be purchased. They serve beer, wine and specialty drinks at the concerts only. You may also bring in your own food and drinks with the exception of alcoholic beverages.
Should I call a sitter, or can I bring the young ones along?
Most of these concerts are for all ages. Check your tickets to see if there is an age restriction.
