Fredo: up-and-coming London-based grime MC
Hailing from London's infamously tough Mozart Estate, rapper and grime artist Fredo honed his craft on the UK underground scene before dropping his first track "They Ain't 100" in 2016. A viral internet hit, the track was featured on Drake’s 30th birthday mix with OVO Sound Radio. The same year he released two further singles – "Trapspot" and "Pattern Gang" – before appearing on Kojo Funds and Abra Cadabra's hit single "Dun Talkin [Remix]". Focussing his lyrics on topics such as crime, violence, drugs and gang culture, the MC has garnered millions of views on YouTube and rapidly skipped ahead of many of his contemporaries in the rap game. Fredo: destined for the big time
At the beginning of 2017, Fredo released his fourth single "Get The Pot" before earning a slot on the Fire in the Booth segment of Charlie Sloth's BBC Radio 1Xtra show. Regarded as a real mark of prestige in the rap scene (especially for newcomers) MCs from the grime and hip-hop take to the booth to freestyle, with the likes of Big Narstie, Bugzy Malone, Professor Green, Tinie Tempah and Wretch 32 all having performed on Fire in the Booth in the past. Taking advantage of the hype, Fredo released his debut 14-track album Get Rich or Get Recalled in March 2017 (featuring the likes of Ratlin, Donaeo, Blade Brown and Muscle) to great critical acclaim among avid UK-rap fans. Fredo, however, knew little of the hype given that he was in prison at the time (as revealed in the 2017 London rap-scene documentary LDN).
After his release from prison, Fredo dropped another single – "Like That" – and featured on Charlie Sloth's 2017 album The Plug before completing his first (and sell out) UK tour, with shows in Manchester, Birmingham and London. Fredo dropped a new 13-track mixtape Tables Turn in February 2018. Destined for even bigger and better things, catch this grime master live in 2018: buy Fredo tickets at StubHub.
