With 23 varsity teams and a spot in the one of the elite conferences in the country, the Big East, the Georgetown Hoyas always seem to be in the middle of one amazing sporting event or another, and that's not something likely to change anytime in the near future. Though the Hoyas are well known for their football and basketball teams, they also have plenty of other top programs as well, including baseball, soccer, lacrosse and plenty of others. But it also doesn't get any better than when the Hoyas are taking to the court to take on another powerhouse, as the stands at the Verizon Center are sure to be absolutely rocking.
With five different Final Four appearances and a title (1984), the Hoyas men's team has been one of the powerhouse programs over the last few decades, and that's not something likely to change anytime in the near future. The Hoyas have even won 10 different conference championships, and you never know when they're going to burst through and do it all over again. Don't forget about the women's program, however, as they've put together plenty of great seasons as well, including a Sweet Sixteen run as recently as 2011. With plenty of sporting options from year to year, the Hoyas' calendar of events is sure to have something for you.

Over the years, the University of Georgetown has become one of the major staples of Georgetown, Georgetown, which isn't something likely to change anytime in the near future. Georgetown was actually established all the way back in 1789. With more than two centuries of development, the University of Georgetown has built an incredible reputation both in the classroom and on the sports field. Alumni like Dick Durbin, Antonin Scalia, Bradley Cooper and many more have studied at Georgetown before a major mark on their respective fields. With as many famous academics as athletes, this is a rare school that has the perfect balance between classroom and athletic prominence.
But many of the most well-known alumni still come from the basketball program. From Patrick Ewing to Allen Iverson and beyond, the Hoyas basketball team frequently attracts some top talents in the country. Other great players who have come to campus include Dikembe Mutumbo, Roy Hibbert and many more, and you never know who is going to burst onto the scene next with a banner day or season. More than ever, this is just one of those teams that you always have to keep your eye on, mainly because you probably know them from the higher seeds in your yearly NCAA Tournament brackets. When the Hoyas take to the court, the whole campus tends to be paying attention.

When it comes to seeing a big game, it doesn't get much better than big-time college sporting events, though that's something that you need to see for yourself. If you've never been out to a prominent game featuring two of the better teams in college football, you simply have no idea what you've been missing. At Multi-Sport Field, it's always a great atmosphere for a football game, though the Verizon Center is also a great backdrop for the biggest hoops games of the season for the Hoyas, and you'll see loud and clear why the college basketball experience is known to get taken to a completely different level when you get a chance to see it for yourself. When the game is on the line and the Hoyas are digging in, you'll definitely be glad that you're not anywhere else, as college sports played at this level can be as good as it gets for spectator sports.
