The Gipsy Kings is a band of musicians who hail from the south of France and play flamenco, salsa and pop music. The musicians mostly come from Spanish gypsy families, and this cultural history plays an important role in their music. They've been entertaining fans since 1978 when they were originally called Los Reyes. Gipsy Kings shows give you a great perspective as to how talented the guitar players are.Music Is an International Language
The Gipsy Kings have a following around the world. This is a significant accomplishment considering the band started out as a group of cousins who played shows in their home town of Arles, France. The original name of Los Reyes is a play on words as Reyes means Kings in Spanish and was also the last name of several of the members. Los Reyes soon started touring around France to play at festivals and events. They soon changed their name to the Gipsy Kings, reflecting on their family heritage and the fact that they lived like gypsies as they traveled. The third album, Gipsy Kings, was what put them on the map outside of France after it was released in 1987. The band soon became well-known throughout Europe as well as the Middle East and parts of Africa. The Gipsy Kings album also gave the group a presence in the US, and it spent 40 weeks on the charts. Since their early days, the group has released more than a dozen albums, including two live albums. They've made the charts in countries such as Italy, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria. They continue to sing primarily in Gitane, a native Gypsy language that is a mixture of Spanish, French and Catalan.Where can I buy Gipsy Kings tickets?
