Making a name at Eurovision
Born in Amsterdam, Netherlands, in 1978 she made her first foray into the entertainment industry at 15 when she won a TV talent show. In what was to be an indication of her future musical progression, she performed Whitney Houston's hit 'One Moment in Time'. With an equally breath-taking stage presence and striking similarity to the American R&B icon, Glennis Grace has performed a number of Houston's most famous songs and tribute shows throughout her career. A breakthrough moment happened for her when she was selected to represent her country at the 2005 Eurovision contest. Performing an original song 'My Impossible Dream' she narrowly missed out on qualifying for the final round and was catapulted onto the international spotlight. Appearing on Eurovision made her a national icon and opened plenty of doors for her. Following the contest, she released her debut studio album, which reached #28 on the Dutch music charts. Rocking stages in America
In 2011, Grace performed a rousing version of a song called 'Afscheid' by Dutch pop group 'Volumia!'. A live recording of the song was released, and it enjoyed tremendous success in the Netherlands, reaching #1 on the singles chart and going double platinum. This was followed by her third solo album, 'This Is My Voice', shortly after, consolidating her place as a prominent star in the Dutch music scene. Glennis Grace made huge strides into overseas markets in 2018 when she appeared on the hit TV show, 'America's Got Talent'. Performing a range of well-known songs from famous artists such as Prince, Snow Patrol and Bebe Rexha, she endeared herself to viewers of the show and made it to the final round. Her success in America has had a resounding influence on artists from Europe, inspiring many to take the plunge and head to the US for increased opportunities.
