Gnash background
Gnash was born Garrett Charles Nash on June 16, 1991, in Los Angeles, California. When he was just 13 years old, Gnash started developing his DJ skills at parties and high school dances. When he completed college, he began producing cover songs.
Gnash built his following through SoundCloud. His fan club calls themselves dreamers, a name he let them pick through Twitter. He also has a series of popular DIY fan gigs in public parks. At these happenings, he sells his handmade merchandise, such as tie-dye shirts and round sunglasses.
His debut EP, u, was released on SoundCloud in March 2015, followed by the EP me in December 2015. His March 2016 release of us featured Gnash’s first single, “i hate u, i love u,” which features Olivia O’Brien. Essentially an overnight success, the song peaked at No. 10 on Billboard’s Hot 100 and hit No. 1 in Australia.
