Situated within Manhattan Center on West 34th Street in New York City, the Hammerstein Ballroom is an auditorium measuring 12,000 square feet. It has hosted a number of events like the WWE, Swedish House Mafia, Iron Maiden and Bryan Adams. The ballroom was the brainchild of Oscar Hammerstein I, grandfather to the world-renowned librettist of the same name responsible for such musical theater gems as The Sound of Music, Oklahoma! and The King and I. Hammerstein I built the ballroom in 1906, originally intending it to be an opera house. After the more successful Metropolitan Opera paid Hammerstein I to desist from running his opera company, the ballroom changed ownership many times, taking its current name and usage in 1997. It was previously a Freemasons' temple, a church, a trade union headquarters and a vaudeville theater. Explore StubHub today for tickets to the hottest events at the Hammerstein Ballroom.
