Honey G Tickets
A rapper and hip-hop performer from Harrow, North West London, Honey G first came to the public's attention when she auditioned for the 2016 series of The X Factor, a television talent show. Born in 1981, the rapper would go on to make it to the quarter-finals of the show during the live elimination stage of the programme. That year, the final of The X Factor was staged at Wembley Arena and Honey G took to the stage, despite having been knocked out as a contestant. Performing as a guest star, it soon became known that the rapper had signed a record deal with Syco Music, the record label owned and run by the show's founder and judge, Simon Cowell. Having used the TV show to launch her career in professional music making, Honey G has gone on to perform all over the country.
Honey G's professional recording career
Honey G announced that she would be releasing her debut single, a track called “The Honey G Show”, soon after her guest appearance on The X Factor. It came out on 23 December in 2016. The track was not a commercial success and only managed to get to number 149 in the UK charts. In April of 2017, she was reported in the music press as having left Syco. Nevertheless, a further single appeared in the summer of that year, this time on the artist's own label, called H to the O Music. Unfortunately, “Hit You With the Honey G” also failed to chart.
Honey G's live work
After the TV show, Honey G went on to perform on The X Factor Live Tour, along with other contestants who had taken a part in that year's series. In all, eight of the performers from the show took to the stage together on a tour that covered most parts of the UK, with a varying number of musical styles. Later in 2017, Honey G began to accept offers of one-off gigs that were specially organised for her style of hip-hop, rather than touring alongside mainstream singers and artists. Her rap shows included dates at the Manchester Academy 3, for example, as well as performing for students at the University of London.
Honey G trivia
An Internet-based fad of mums and grandmothers dressing up in the style of Honey G emerged during her time on The X Factor, with videos of people being shared, using the hashtag #mummyG. The rapper's real name is Anna Georgette Gilford. There is a Korean boy band that also uses the name Honey G for its act.
