Houston Open Air Festival
Branded “the biggest rock experience in Texas,” the Houston Open Air festival rocks the city for two days of heavy metal on three stages. The festival features top acts such as Of Mice & Men, Deftones and HELLYEAH as well as regional bands along the likes of Texas Hippie Coalition, Sons of Texas and Nothing More.
The festival offers much in the way of cuisine, too. Featured vendors plan to serve up specialties from smoked meats to alcoholic treats. Open Air’s food offerings feature huge helpings of regional barbecue favorites and a Texas-sized selection of tacos. A Jack Daniels’ Whiskey exhibit offers samples and a bit of education about the legend behind the label. In between noshing, fans will have opportunities to get an artist’s autograph or two at specified locations.
Rock lovers may get overwhelmed by all the bands the Houston Open Air Festival attracts. The worst dilemma is deciding on which stage to get to first when bands like Alice in Chains, Slayer, Anthrax, The Cult and Sick Puppies are all scheduled.
Brought to Houston by “World’s Loudest Month” concert series promoter Danny Wimmer, Houston Open Air offers the best in rock to one of the world’s biggest rock towns.
