When will the 2020 IAHSAA State Dual Team Tournament take place?First up for IAHSAA State Wrestling Tournament ticket holders is the State Dual Team Tournament, which will take place on Feb. 19. Action starts at 9 a.m. with quarterfinals for the 2A and 1A schools that will be competing. The 3A teams will then take their turn at 11 a.m. Following at 1 p.m. will be semifinal matches for all three weight classes. Consolation matches will also take place at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. After a short break, more consolation matches will occur at 4:30 p.m. before the day’s action wraps up at 6:30 p.m., which is when the three state championship match-ups will occur.
What’s the schedule for the 2020 IAHSAA State Wrestling Tournament?Once the IAHSAA State Dual Team Tournament concludes, the focus turns to the IAHSAA State Wrestling Tournament proper, which will take place from Feb. 20-22. Three seasons are scheduled for both of the first two days. The ones on the first day will run from 9 a.m.-noon, 1:30-4:30 p.m. and 6-9 p.m., while the Feb. 21 sessions are scheduled for 9 a.m.-1 p.m., 2:30-5:45 p.m. and 7:30-10 p.m. There will just be two sessions on the final day of competition, from 10 a.m.-2:15 p.m. and at 6 p.m. The last one is when the championship matches will take place for all weight classes.
What’s the format for the 2020 IAHSAA State Wrestling Tournament?There will be four rounds of competition in each of the three classes: 3A, 2A and 1A. Consolation matches are scheduled for each of the classes, but wrestlers will be eliminated from championship consideration once they’ve lost a match. The first round will take place on the first day, the quarterfinals and semifinals will both take place on the second day, and the championship matches are scheduled for the final day.
