Jack Beats background
Jack Beats are DJ Plus One and Beni G -- two London-based DJs who fuse dubstep with electro house. They aren't newcomers on the dance music scene, though. DJ Plus One earned his chops with the drum and bass collective Scratch Perverts, while Beni G is one-half of turntablist duo The Mixologists. Together, they draw from their respective musical experiences and create exciting new sounds that people just won't hear on Top 40 radio. DJ Plus One used to DJ on London's Kiss Radio and won the DMC World DJ Championships in 2001.
Jack Beats have become regulars on the live music circuit. They have played at music festivals like Coachella, Glastonbury Festival and Electric Daisy Carnival, as well as smaller venues. The atmosphere at Jack Beats gig is always electric: party-goers wave their hands in the air as the duo spin the latest, loudest dance beats on lighted turntables. Expect strobe lights, visuals and speakers turned up to 11.
Like other artists in their genre, Jack Beats connect with their fans on social media. They also upload tracks to their Soundcloud page, which has more than 150,000 subscribers.
Jack Beats history
Jack Beats released their debut EP, Golddigga, in 2006. The set -- a collaboration with dance artists Deekline and Wizard -- generated much critical buzz and established Jack Beats as the new kids on the dance block. Combining elements of breakbeat and British EDM, the EP was the first of many releases from this duo. The EPs Keep It Ringing, What, U.F.O. EP and Revolution/Out of Body soon followed.
In 2011, Jack Beats released "End of Love," which samples Leonard Cohen's "Dance Me to the End of Love." The single was their biggest chart success yet and introduced the group to American fans. "End of Love" reached No. 38 on Billboard's Dance Club Songs Chart.
In 2016, Jack Beats dropped the Work It EP on the Night Bass label. "Work It," which features on the set, soon became a house anthem. To date, music fans have streamed the track thousands of times.
Jack Beats have collaborated with artists from an assortment of genres. They have remixed singles for Beyonce, La Roux and Big Boi. Jack Beats have also released two mixtapes: Evolutions and Progressions.
